UNITED STATES 31 August - 3 September 2008 Alternative rally planned for ex-US presidential candidate Ron Paul
Supporters of maverick Rep. Ron Paul are organizing The Rally for the Republic, inspired by his message of limited government and strict adherence to the United States Constitution, in the city of Minneapolis. It's intended as an alternative to the Republican National Convention in the same city, and the dates overlap. The Texas conservative lost to John McCain in the race to be Republican Party candidate in the United States presidential election.
Paul, a potent fundraiser who has attracted a fervent core of followers attracted to his libertarian views, is scheduled to speak during the 10-hour rally at the city's 15,000-person capacity Target Center on Sep 2, the second day of the four-day GOP convention.
The rally will feature such events as the Ron Paul Nation Celebration and a Campaign for Liberty Leadership Summit. Jul/08
